Fully matured from filling to bottling in fresh Oloroso sherry butts, Loch Gorm adds a new dimension to Kilchoman’s portfolio, bringing a depth of character and colour to the Islay Single Malt. The Loch Gorm range is the only all sherry cask-matured expression from Kilchoman.
The 2014 realease was filled into fresh Oloroso sherry butts in 2009 and bottled in spring 2014, this full ex-sherry cask maturation creates a unique balance of classic Kilchoman character and rich Oloroso sherry influence.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose: There's the peat, straight away, earthy and rich. This is followed by red berries and sweet citrus with a medicinal hint developing along the way.
Palate: Crumbly biscuits and vanilla, an inviting pair to open up a palate. This is swiftly followed by smoky peat once again, which stays with you through the Sherry soaked berries until the finish.
Finish: Sweet and smoky right to the end, cherries lasting.
Overall: Great balance of Oloroso Sherry sweetness and classic Islay peat. Loch Gorm is a proper gem.
